Metex high speed diesel engines are of four stroke single Cylinder and are designed and manufactured to suit multipurpose applications. They are cold start, vertical, totally enclosed, either water cooled or air cooled as the case may be and of compression ignition type.

Construction Details

It is fitted with an open type combustion chamber, with direct injection in an Aluminum Alloy Piston with three compression rings and one oil ring with precision machined cylinder liner for long life. The cylinder head is of close grained cast iron. The crankshaft and connecting rod are made from special alloy steels forged and ground to precision. The main bearing bushes are of white metal lined steel backed thin wall precision bearings. Large end bearings are aluminum Tin lined steel backed thin wall replaceable type. Valve rocker and connecting rod small end bushes are of Gun Metal or of Steel backed lead bronze.

The Cooling of standard engine is by water circulation and is normally maintained by direct connection from water pump to engine where suitable outlets are provided. Cooling by radiator or thermosyphon cooling tank are optional.

In case of air cooled engines, cool air is forced over the cylinder and cylinder head by air axial fan driven by ‘V’ belt and is directed through streamlined cooling, thus cooling the engine efficiently which is ideal for industrial applications such as conveyors, generators, flour mills, concrete mixers, etc.
The engines are fitted with dry type replaceable air cleaner and also some time with oilbath wet type cleaner for efficient air filtration. The engine is fitted with well balanced flywheel and the starting is by hand crank on crank shaft extension.
The engines are assembled with high grade quality components duly inspected, tested and are built to Indian Standard Specification ISS 1601 : 1960 and are tested thoroughly for fuel and power characteristics. They are painted, well finished duly packed in cases, covered by polythene. Each engine is supplied with standard handle, exhaust silencer, air cleaner, screwdriver, spare parts and instruction manual.
