Xanthophylls is widely found in marigold flowers having the yellow pigment. The extracts of marigold flowers (Terecta) is used as additives to poultry feed to improve pigmentation. Poultry uses carotenoids for pigmentation as the color of poultry skin is proved by these pigments and they are also involved in growth metabolism and fertility.
